Car door doesn't lock with remote - '08 Jetta

The driver side door doesn't lock unlock from the remote usually. But it does work sometimes. I think the remote battery might not be the problem, because the other doors open and close fine. Could i repair it myself? what should i be looking at?

Depending on the year, it could be the wiring harness in the drivers side door- there is currently a class action law suit about it--see below for link. http://www.wiringharnesssettlement.com

Mine is 2008. Seems like the class action suite is for vehicles of year 2005-2006.
