Radio doesn't turn off when ignition is turned off

When I shut the car off the radio and dash lights stay on for about 8 minutes. Sometimes when I shut the car off and open the door the radio goes off but not the dash lights. Sometimes the radio and dash lights stay on for 8 minutes. Why?

    Sounds like vehicle was designed to work like this, at least two of mine work the same way
