Why isn't Edmunds happy to report or review these systems either way? Most of the reviews I've seen of vehicles that can be optioned with these systems aren't delved into at all in Edmunds text or video reviews which is unfortunate (given the website Edmunds claims to be). KBB doesn't review these systems either but the EuroNCAP and ConsumerReports at least test the systems.

All of these systems have one unavoidable flaw. They will experience failures and that means repairs that no-one will want to pay for. In a lot of cases the failures could be late in the vehicles lifespan when they are usually owned by consumers with limited incomes and the costs for repair a greater burden for those consumers. BTW. Making them have extended warranties only shifts the cost of the potential future repairs into the purchase price, so they aren't "free" .
