Bluetooth road noise heard by phone call receiver

I have paired my cell phone with my 2013 Avalon and make hands free calls. The problem is that the receiver of my calls hears more "road noise" than our conversation. Through my dealer, I located where the intake "mike" is located - under the dash on the driver's side about where one's knee is. I've put tape over the intake holes but that doesn't help. Probably because it's in the dash panel and thus picks-up all of the road noise from the body frame. Does anyone know how to mitigate this road noise problem? I would appreciate any help that I may get as people don't want to talk with me when I use the Avalon Bluetooth. Thank you for reading this post.
