Head lights turn on by themselves

Hello ! I had the problem of my 2003 Pontiac Vibe's head lights turning on by themselves under -20 degrees celcius. The car was parked in my drive way, engine off, all lights off, locked up and in the middle of the night head lights turned on by themselves. Eventually it sucked up all battery energy, leaving it dead. I try to figure out the problem on every forum, recalls and publications of all sorts. Finally I found the answer an other forum. Someone found out that the falty device was the on-off/Head ligths-High beams/flashers arm. You can replace it, and hope that the new one won't do it to. But an other solution is to leave the arm on high beam position. In this position the power is off for head ligths and it prevents them to turn on when the trouble occures at -20. I hope it helps someone.

Happy shoveling !
