Do I have any negotiation room on 2015 Honda CRV AWD Touring?
After two weeks of research and contacting several dealers, I have finally found a 2015 CRV AWD Touring model in Black. We had a heck of a time finding a dealer with the color we wanted.
Sadly, the out the door price is $35,356 and the break down is:
Edmunds Price Promise: $33,649, which includes the $880 destination fee.
Dealer Processing Fee $299
VA sales tax at 4% = 1357.92
Tag Transfer $51
This is about $3000 more than I want to pay, based on research of what others are paying for this model.
I would appreciate your thoughts on whether I have any room left to negotiate. Dealer knows he is the only one with what we want. In addition, the dealer is in MD and I live in VA, so it's unlikely I will ever visit the dealership for service. Should I wait and hope that a VA dealer will locate a black one or pull the trigger on this one?
Thanks!

stever Guest Posts: 52,454I used a Santa Fe zip code and came up with a TMV of $33,322. That reflects the average price paid around here (but there's no Touring models within 200 miles).
Supply and demand is hammering you here. Your only other options are to wait or look at different brands.
Your quote isn't "bad", it's just average. The dealer fees are a bit high, but nothing unusual, and better than a lot of places.
You know what you want so go ahead and buy it. Keep it five years and it's only $600 extra a year to enjoy the extra features and the color you want. Resale will be terrific and you'll be the only one on the block with a Touring. So pull the trigger, and don't visit the prices paid discussions again for a few years.5

Enjoy the new ride!
I would think that most buyers would be reluctant to spend that kind of money on a CRV and would have little use for those extras.
So, I'm thinking most stores would order very few of them.
And, it sounds like you have no flexibility on color and that really makes it touch since black isn't a very popular color compared to others.
But, stever brings up a good point. If it's affordable buy what you really want instead of settling for a car you really never love.
The dealer holds the cards here and you aren't getting a "bad" deal.
