My 13 Optima Hybrid also has a fake analog display. It doesn't bother me.

One nice thing - you never have a parallax issue with reading the speedometer since it is flat, and no dirt or mechanical stickiness to worry about.

Personally I am fine with the modern gauge screen. I just wish that more manufacturers allowed you to fully customize what data you see. There is ample room on that display to allow me to also see volts and oil pressure or oil pressure and temp, or trans temp, or air fuel ratio if that was something that interested me.

The ECU tracks all that info, how hard is it to develop a graphic for the gauge display that includes that info?

Those gages are analog; they're just rendered graphically instead of being electromechanical instruments. There's no reason they couldn't be better rendered, with shading and lighting changes as the "needles" sweep. Still, I would take them over the cars which have digital speedometers, or worse, digital tachometers or graphical tachometers shaped like torque curves.
