Gas Cap Light and Check Engine Light

My gas cap light came on the other week. I went and replaced it but the light is still on. In addition, my check engine light just came on today as well. I have had my car serviced recently and there were no issues. I checked for leaks but don't see anything. The car is performing as usual and I have no complaints about performance. I understand that there could be a vacuum issue that causes the gas cap light. Could the check engine light also be related to this?
