    I've always hated gooseneck hinges. My 2009 Civic has them and they always catch on things when I've got the trunk loaded up with a lot of cargo. I know that traditional outboard hinges are a bit more expensive, but I think they're worth the elimination of any intrusion into the cargo area.

    Based on EPA guidelines the Sonata is considered to be a large sedan not a mid size sedan. They overshot their target when designing.
