2009 Chevy Impala. 68,000 miles. 'Service Traction Control'/reduced power/engine light

In my 2009 Chevy Impala with 68,000 miles the 'Service Traction Control' and engine light come on. It will also flash reduced power to engine with this happens. I will also lose my cruise control. It does not stay on all the time and sometimes just the engine light. All lights were off and everything was fine for several days. Now this morning it happened again but then it said shutting throttle down and I lost all power. I pulled over. Shut of the car and tried to restart. It didn't start at first. I waited a minute or so as I was only a mile from work. It started and I was able to drive it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have only had this car 3 months and have changed the alternator and a broken wire from ignition to shifter. It is very disappointing because several members of my family including myself have owned Impalas for years with no trouble.

Thank you ray80. I plan on taking it to check codes this evening. I travel a long distance daily and it is very dangerous the way it shut down on me totally and so sudden. I will also have the the throttle body cleaned to try that first. Lots of repairs in such a short time.

Same problem but no fix yet. Had throttle body replaces, throttle sensor on accelerator replaced, plug to throttle body replaced, and still have problem. Car dies with "service throttle body" light on and will not restart for about two minutes. When it dies it looses power and quits. Been in mechanics garage for about a month now with no end in sight and I have spent about $1,000.00 on it so far.

Go on safercar.gov and file a complaint. So it could be recalled

Had the same problem with my 2009 Impala; however, GM sent me a recall notice to have something concerning the accelerator pedal fixed. Their fix didn't work as it still grows and loses power along with the traction control warning coming on. Contacted GM and they were to have dealer contact me within 2 weeks; however, its been a month and no one has contacted me!
