Can I not pay the extended warranty that I want to cancel?
Hello,
I just bought a Honda Civic used car and a 7 year extended warranty from a Honda dealer. But after having paid half of the balance down, I decided to cancel the extended warranty. So I went to tell my dealer but the dealer said I have to wait for 30 days and then call her back about the cancellation, because she has already mailed out the warranty contract. I asked her whether I can call her earlier but she says no. Really?
Another thing is since I've paid half of the balance and the bank will mail me a statement for the rest of the balance, my question is: can I NOT pay that $2000 warranty fees when I receive the bank statement......rather than paying it first and wait for a refund?

I think I'd put everything in writing and mail the cancellation notice to the dealer - you don't want a situation where you technically didn't cancel the extended warranty and thirty days has passed (assuming there is a time limit and it's 30 days). Do you have the fine print you can check? Seems like the dealer could show the fine print to you in blank warranty contract.
Probably wouldn't hurt to ask your local consumer protection agency or AG's office for advice.5
