Reduced engine power and check engine light anyone find a fix?

I am the owner of a 2008 Cadillac SRX. I have owned this vehicle since July 2012. A few months ago the engine reduced power, and the engine reduce power light came on, we turned the vehicle off and back on, the problem went away. It happens randomly and is "fixed" when car is turned off and back on, now about a month ago the check engine light also came on. I brought it to my local mechanic and the code that came up was for the timing chain, so they did the work for $1400 and 2 days later the same problems are occurring. Does anyone have an answer for this issue?

I have seen at least 5 different fixs for the reduced power message for various vehicles. Most common seems to be throttle body related (either replacement or wire connection trouble, perhaps proper throttle body cleaning 'may' correct with out replacement). I have also seen in some cases the need to drive to dealer (in limp mode) and get code checked before shutting vehicle off as the 'real ' code does not get savedas most do .
