TDI sound / navigation system issues

We have owned our 2013 Passat TDI for nearly 2 years, but have always been disappointed in the operation of the Fender sound / navigation system provided. The system is so godawful slow to boot up that you may be several blocks down the street before you have audio or even access to it.
When asked repeatedly if VW is aware of the problem, the dealer says that they are but that the system was totally revised for the better in the 2015 models. It is disappointing that the software applications are so bad in this car - it is very disappointing.
