Transmission problem

Have 2008 Toyota Higlander, AWD, with 105000miles, most of which are highway. Check engine, VSC lights on. Toyota dealer service says I need a new transmission at near $5500. They reset the check engine/vsc light and it's now off. Purchased a Toyota product because of reliability and am very disappointed. Anyone else with similar problem?

    Transmission failures happen, and no company is immune from them. Seek out a shop that will repair your transmission instead of just replacing it.
