Grand AM - Ignition Switch Locked - Stuck In Park

Hi,

My girlfriend has 2002 Pontiac Grand AM, and she can't get it to start now. The car is in Park, and the key will not budge from the off position. We've tried moving the steering wheel both ways while try to gently turn the key, but it still will not budge. The battery is good too.

To make a long story short, we got into an argument about the amount of alcohol that was drank, and we were fighting over the key while it was in the ignition still. I know this is a stupid way to mess the car up, but it happened already and we can't change it. While the key was in the ignition we each were trying to get a hand on it kinda of pulling it multiple directions. I'm sure this is what caused our problem. I've tried the spare key too, but same results.

How can we fix this problem? Like can we replace the ignition lock and cylinder switch and it will fire up again? From what I was reading online, we are not able to replace the bare minimum here cuz the key will not budge from off. I tried wiggling the shifter while turning key but nothing. Basically we want to try and fix this problem ourselves because we are tight on money.

Can someone please help us? What would be the right steps to replacing parts and getting this running?
