Just drove off the lot with a new 2015 Ford Transit Connect and we love it.. but we're not done yet. We're going to take this mini-mini van ugly duckling and turn it into a mild Expedition travel vehicle with the help of Ford, Ford Performance, Ford Racing, our dealership along with a few conversion retailers..

I can't say we'll actually go off road with it.. But Our dealer has given us a warranty that will last above and beyond what Ford offered us at no extra charge.. When a dealer says they want you for life.. they means it.. we couldn't believe that we got into this mini mini van with no money down. When I look at the transit..I see a clean/blank canvas waiting to have paint and parts added.

We've had several people ask to look at our transit.. "Does it have a CD player?", "What about power this or power that?".. well, our 2015 Transit has nothing.. no power anything and this is perfect and it allows us to add as we need it.. One of the first things we'll have Ford add, is cruise control.. Next and seeing how we are covered for wheels and tires for Life.. We'll be looking at getting new wheels with more aggressive looking tires.

We're going to start on this transit very soon and update our blog all in preparation for our cross country trip next year. Camping and sleeping in the back of this mini-mini van. So I guess this is our official road and equipment test on Edmunds.com.

Thank Your Ford.. and We Love It!

So.. Here is what Happen to us this morning.. My wife asked me to make her some jelly toast and the toaster is in the closet.. When I pulled the white toaster out.. "Whoa, Hun Look It's Our Transit Van!!" it was a white T-fal Toaster.. Thus the legend of the "Toaster Vans" blog & Forums was born..

Crunch Time.. we've found those wheels and tires to match.. both are on scheduled for delivery within a few weeks if not sooner. Even our Ford dealership is getting into the picture by setting up a set of free TMPS for the new wheels and tires. This search has taken me about 6 months to pull off.. I didn't want to do an impulse buy on any sort of wheels or tires.. I knew what I wanted, it's just I'm not sure about the wheel rings that allow these wheels to be installed on the van. Then there is the offset and this concerns me also. could the 50mm offset on a 16x7 wide wheel be more than this van can handle.. I realize that the 17x8 wheels (which actually measure 18x9) didn't fit the van upon testing. it was almost to the point where, we were looking heavily at the stock steel silver wheels as a replacement to the all ready rusty black steels with plastic center caps. I want to feel confidant about this and we have a lot at stake here and many of you want to see this..Oh and once we've installed the wheels and tires.. we're not done. We have more we want to do to this van because it is our travel van. Turning a contractors van into a mild weekend warrior/overlander isn't easy.
