    Hello,
It is simply not true that the manual transmission gets worse mpg than the automatic by your record: I consistently get a minimum of 28mpg with my 2009 stock, manual transmission SX4, and usually around 30-31mpg. One time I got 34mpg. It has over 60,000 miles on it now and just this morning I pulled in the gas station on fumes and put in 10.45gallons, and the odometer said 309.1 miles: that's 29.57mpg, and it was low because I was a little pedal heavy with it that tank. I live where there are large hills to climb as well. I have NEVER seen less than 28mpg and the standard gas tank consistently takes me on a range of over 300 miles: note that it appears I had another gallon and a half left this last time, even though the range said zero. I could have gone another 45 miles before running out of gas. :-)
