Handling - BMW 3 Gran Turismo vs BMW 5 Series

I'm currently looking at a three series Gran Turismo as a cheaper alternative to buying a BMW five series. Does anyone have any thoughts? It seems like the backseat in the Gran Turismo is actually bigger than the backseat and of the five series. The biggest complaint I hear about the Gran Turismo is that it does not handle like a traditonal three series. Would anyone know how it handles versus attritional Five series?

5 series will handle way better than the those weird tall GT models. i'm no BMW expert but i know that 5 series is probably the longest-running best-handling sedan platform/car on the planet. get the 5 if the price is right.

Have you driven both the 5 series and the 3GT? I'm specifically curious about the 335 GT? I currently have a 3 series Wagon, but I need something with a bigger back seat. In a perfect world I'd buy a 5 series wagon, but that's not an option in the US. A loaded 335 GT, while not cheap, seems to be more affordable than a mid range 5 series. Also, I'd rather not buy an X3.
