Looks like someone put a Chevy bowtie on a Kia Forte. And here we go again with the corporate branding. Isn't a car that just looks good enough? Does it HAVE to look like a mini-Malibu? Not that there's anything wrong with that, but how about some visual diversity and not just another (albeit, smaller) car designed to look like a member of the family?

This strategy works for BMW and Audi and nobody ever complains.

I like it when it works like it does here. It doesn't always work between the different size cars and there is an art to just how much you carry over between them. I think Chevy is doing quite well with just putting enough similar on there.
I saw the same gripe when the Malibu was shown but to me using a really good design like the Impala as a starting point is a smart way to do it.
Now just carry over the interior quality and you've got it!

Which one is it? A Kia Forte or a Mini-Malibu? Or is the Malibu a maxi-Forte? And the Impala a mega-Forte?

You're average person doesn't cares about a KIA Forte, or KIA in general. Or barely knows KIA even exists as a brand so the Cruze's association with a KIA is kinda, no actually, it's just moot. Who wants to copy a brand that's the [non-permissible content removed] cousin of a brand that's already considered low brow anyway?

what works for Audi and BMW does not mean that it will work for any other brand) imho
