I put aftermarket radio in 1997 Chevy Suburban and lost my dash lights.

I installed a after market radio in my 1997 chev suburban but i lost my dash lights so i reinstalled my factory radio and still no dash lights help me.

Check the dash illumination fuse, #14 make sure there is power to it when the headlights are turned on. That power comes from the parking lights circuit fuse #9. The grey wire at the radio is the illumination circuit. Grounding that wire when installing the aftermarket radio could have caused the fuse to blow.
