My radio is flickering on and off

i just got a 2004 gmc yukon denali xl and my radio flashes back to the gmc screen while playing and blacks out the goes back to the gmc home screen while my truck is on. while the screen is flickering the radio will get louder for a second then go back to my normal audio level. does my radio have a short in it or is something else the problem with my radio not staying on like it should??
