Any opinions about Valvoline synthetic oil?

I have a coupon for an oil change (1999 Lexus LS400 with 30,000 - 40,000 miles; obviously not driven much). All they have is Valvoline synthetic oil (and they have a little Castrol in stock). I've always been loyal to Quaker State and Pennzoil (my dad advised me of this many years ago).

I plan to follow the Lexus manual (I think I usually put 30 weight oil in there). My question is: What kind of reputation do Valvoline synthetic oils have?

When it comes to today's engine oil products anything related to brand loyalty no longer applies. The amount of refining that has to take place just to meet the API SN and ILSAC GF5 all but eliminates any real benefit from one brand to the next. Valvoline sells several different synthetic products today. If you choose one that has GM's dexos approval, you will get a product that is vastly superior to most of other choices that only meet the API and ILSAC ratings.
