Air conditioner problems.

I have a few issues with my 2004 Chevrolet Suburban. Sometimes while driving the driver side vents will switch to hot air, all other vents including the rear still blow cold. I have read that this is typically resolved by having the dealership reprogram the HVAC module, has anybody had this problem?

Next issue is my blowers only work on high speed, is this typically the resistor under the dash?

Also sometimes the blowers will stop all together, and will not come back on until the vehicle sits a while. However sometimes the blowers operate just fine, high speed only that is.

Last is sometimes when I start it, I have no response from the instrument cluster. The mileage display works however the guages do not operate. This does not happen every time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We had BOTH problems a few years ago with our 04 Suburban. You actually have 2 separate problems.
First, A/C: Problem was Blend Actuator Module. I had the dealer recharge my A/C (very temporary fix) then went back a few weeks later to have Blend Actuator replaced. There are 2 places (per Haynes repair manual) where it could be: In the dash behind instrument cluster or Under dash, above gas pedal. Mine was the under the dash. Had dealer replace it for several hundred dollars. I let them do it as the new module must be calibrated when installed. This was several years ago so maybe the new parts don't need calibration?

Second problem is you have a bad instrument control board. Our control board had a burned up resistor in the fan control resistor network which only allowed the fan to operate on HIGH. GM issued a recall for the boards a few months after we had ours repaired, but we couldn't find the receipt and we were out $750.00. The board is in the dash somewhere - don't know where. The dealer had to solder a new resistor onto our control board to fix our fan. So far, our instruments are still working, so we still have the old board.

    Hope this helps!
