There's no mention of the 2.3L PZEV in that article.

Can anyone verify that it will be available to the entire U.S. next year? I just test drove a ZX5 5-speed last night and the only thing even keeping it in the running against the P5 and M6i is the price.

I had a 98 ZX2 with the same 2.0L Zetec, which was a great car, that had a lot more zip to it. The Focus doesn't perform as well with it, and I don't know if I can deal with that.

Yes the 2.3L will be phased in next year. Already the ZX3 Power Premium version in NY, CA, and MA are being sold with the 2.3L making 148HP and 152 TQ.

this would be great if true, but i'm skeptical. according to this site the focus w/pzev was available in 2003 too, but also only in NY, CA, and MA. but then maybe that was just a test run before offering it to everyone.

I live in MN. If I went to NY to buy a Focus PZEV, would they let me?

I don't see why not. It's available on the ZX3 Power Premium. Look up it up in the New Car section/ZX3/Power Premium, and it should be listed in there.

Maybe that's what i need to do. I doubt the Valvoline Oil change place would have my filter on hand though....may have to buy a couple.

Update: Just released today are the product overviews for the 2004 Ford/L/M vehicles. Just as I had stated earlier, the 2.3L will be available in all states now. Follow this link (courtesy of Ford Media) where you can read a bit more up on it, as well as other refinements done to the vehicle that might interest.
