Hybrid battery doesn't charge as well anymore

I have been noticing lately that my battery does not charge as well after being in traffic after a while. It charges when I brake but does not charge as much as it should, instead of showing a large charge it will only charge a certain amount and nothing more no matter how much charge is already in the battery. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a sign of the battery going bad? It works perfectly the next day which makes me believe it has something to do with the heat

The batteries are temperature sensitive. The cooler you keep it, the better it works. The battery temperature can be monitored via scan data with a full function scan tool.
