Can't afford my car repairs
Hi,
I just financed my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT in August, so I haven't even made a years worth of payments yet, but I have it scheduled to be paid off in 36 months total.
Well my power steering started making noises in November so I got it checked out -- turns out the power steering pump and steering gear are damaged and power steering fluid was leaking. -- around $2000 to repair. The rest of the car seemed fine enough, or so I convinced myself (it was around then that I also started noticing the transmission was shifting weird). I figured I would keep refilling the power steering fluid until the summer when I graduated and started my full time job.
Well just then, I got a check engine light on so I figured I'd get that fixed and go get the power steering issue resolved as well.
Turns out my transmission seems to be going. The mechanic will look into the issue some more, but that'll cost more and they said it'll most likely be an expensive repair, in the range of another $2000 or upwards (plus I have a mass airflow sensor out, just got a wheel bearing replaced and just got new tires recently. Brakes are also due soon)
This is ridiculous!
Is there any way that I could have known that the transmission and power steering were just about to snap when I bought the car?
