Driving near the speed limit is awesome for long road trips. The car is more efficient and quieter and the driver is much less stressed. I usually drive 69 on a 65mph road to amuse myself.

The ZF 9 speed's shifting calibration maybe rough on the Jeep but I obviously it does get results for fuel economy. Which is the real reason FCA and everybody else are quickly installing multi-speed and CVT automatics in everything.

I agree about obeying the speed limit. I typically cruise 5-10 MPH over the speed limit while my wife likes to adhere to whatever is posted. That would explain how she got 25.43 MPG on a recent trip to Michigan in our 23-MPG Hwy-rated 2010 Odyssey.

Finally, you've listened to my recommendation! You'll never get EPA while driving 80 mph in the desert heat. The EPA test protocol is NOT the "keeping up with traffic" routine, so those who drive that way have no right to complain about low fuel economy.
Over the last few years, I've switched to just driving the speed limit. I'm rewarded with a more sound mind, lower radio volume, better fuel economy, and never having to look for cops. And you get a less-worn vehicle.
