    I don't have a problem with startup chimes. They walk a fine line, though. If done well, they can set the mood while also fading into the background, and in a luxury barge like the K900 I think it helps to have something set a relaxing mood to take the edge off before you start a tedious commute.

    I just don't know if this particular chime does that. I do know that as much as I love my Audi A3, its startup tones definitely don't set any kind of mood.

    Our 13 Optima Hybrid has a similar startup routine; I've never liked the theatrics. After a year with the car, I just try to ignore it.

    For a few years, some Mazdas chimed 3 notes (zoom zoom zoom) of their commercial theme song at the time. My 2013 3 doesn't do it. I kind of miss it.
