Implausable left wheel ABS brakes, dash board lights go on and cruise control stops working U1417

I replaced the left wheel sensor however it is not the cause. The cause was an open circit in the wire going to the left wheel abs brake sensor. I had heard this to be the cause before but I should have checked the wire. Up in Ohio the brine that they use on the roads in the winter eats everything including the wiring harness. Trouble code U1417.

One thing you should try. I had a malibu with an abs light on the right side and when I looked at the wire it was intact from start to end, HOWEVER, with the wire flexing every time you make a turn the copper strands inside the wire were actually broken inside the insulation. When I spoke with a friend at a repair shop he told me to squeeze the wire between my fingers and if you feel a spot that feels more narrow it could be the problem.
I ran new wires and spliced them at both ends and never had a problem after that.
