I hate the driver's seat in our long-term 2015 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe. Not only because its uncomfortable, but because its showing early signs of wear.

Jag will fix that under warranty, I would think??

Talk about "fit and finish". Apparently, there's not much to be found here. That's particularly sorry considering that the last entry was about the trunk lid falling apart. I'm waiting for the headliner to drop down any minute.

A simple palm over the bolster while sliding in and out would have prevented that. It happens to almost all soft leathered and high bolstered seats pretty quickly. BMW M seats for example. Porsche's "Natural Leather" sport seats are even worse. You can't blame Jag for your carelessness. The peeling paddle shifters, poorly mounted pillar trim and sagging trunk lid seem a bit egregious on their end though.

Seems like a poor choice of material for a high wear area.

Although the plastic warping issues are obviously a problem on such a high dollar machine, the scratched seat leather is more a result of your carelessness and reluctance to maintain the soft natural material (which will wear out quickly if not moisturized properly) then a fault with the material itself.

I have never really been a fan of leather seats. As the saying goes, they are too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Perhaps this is why heated/cooled leather seats were invented. In addition, you must keep the leather properly conditioned and moisturized in order to help combat UV damage, drying and cracking. Cloth seats can look quite good if designed with attractive fabric, texture and color. The cloth seats will also require far less maintenance.

Wow, that's a lot worse than the seats in my 2009 Carrera S with 42,000 miles. If they want to compete with Porsche, they're gonna have to step up their materials, big time!

Looks to be a case where a more durable vinyl for that fabric panel/portion of the bolster might have been a better choice even if the grain doesn't match as well with the rest of the leather. For an aggressive side bolster in a car that is essentially run in a fleet as compared to a private owner that might be a little more carefully getting in and out, I wouldn't say that type of wear isn't unexpected. As food for thought, go to a big auto show and take a look at how much bolster wear there is on most seats after just a week of different people getting in and out of show cars. Yikes.
