I have the same problem with my 2015 Subaru Legacy 2.5i. EPA highway is 36 mpg with the CVT. I have yet to break 29 mpg average. My average mpg is 25.8. The range from the 18.5 gallon tank is fantastic. Normally I wouldn't care about not hitting the EPA MPG numbers, but I need to show something for the 175 hp engine.

if you are really going for it, find a road with 50-55 mph, and drive that speed. 75 mph is a little too much for setting MPG records.

This or at least stay under 65 MPH.

Yeah... In my CT200h, I'll get ~50mpg doing 65mph, but that will drop to 42-44mpg doing 75mph. Power required is to the cube of speed... Set the cruise control to 65mph and it should hit the target.

Did you turn on all the Eco features this car has? It really should be no problem getting 35 mpg, especially if speed is kept under 70 mph for at least part of the trip. My S60 with the old 5 cylinder has gotten a calculated 32 mpg over nearly 500 miles more than once.

The EPA test doesn't get anywhere near 75mph. As the others have said, you needed to keep your speed to 65 max to have much chance to get the EPA figure.

Said it before, will say it again...3700+ lbs., 300+ hp. 36 mpg? Not gonna.happen. 30.5 is excellent. Forget what EPA says.
