Are there problems with the body and paint in Honda Accords?

I am interested in buying a new Honda Accord. It meets my specs. One of the problems I see is that all of the Honda Accords I see parked in my buzy office parking lot seem to have dents, nicks, paint holes in the rear bumbers. Does this mean that the body or paint has problems and gravel hitting the rear makes holes and dents? I do some some new accord owners with rubber rear end protectors which are "ugly" but seem to protect the integrity of the rear bumbers.
