    It only used a small amount of power, Philip, because your "dead" battery wasn't dead...just too low to start the car by itself.

    Sure looks like a new battery to me, can't tell about the alternator.

    How many break downs per mile is this thing averaging now? Is this the second or third failed to start?

    Good grief, don't tell the Yugo is more reliable. It's already driven more miles...

    Short of replacing the whole car, it will still cost less to maintain than that 12 cylinder Benz.

    The video was shot immediately before I took the Corvette to get a new battery and alternator.

    I've had one of these battery pack jumpstarters on my Amazon wishlist for a while now. The one I'm looking at also has an air compressor accessory that will let you inflate your tires a few PSI using the battery pack. Pretty amazing stuff to be languishing on my wishlist...I guess I'll just have to buy it with my own money. :P

    Not particularly applicable with the Vette, but one of these portable gizmos would probably be a safer way to jump a modern car with all the interconnected electronics. If someone flagged me down for a jump, I'd rather use this gizmo than hooking the cars together and risking frying the computers on my donor car.
