2000 Tundra after market add-ons
I have the 200 Tudra LTD -- and I love it. The
only problem that I have had with it so far is that
it could really use a locking differential. I
have had my truck off road in Colorado already, and
found that it performs quite well despite the
missing locker. However, there is no real
substitute for a locker. Does anyone know where
there may be a locker available to add to the
Tundra, or if Toyota is planning on adding it to
the list of options next year etc.?
Also, what about the skid plates that come with
the TRD package? There are skid plates on my TRD
Tundra, but compared with other Toyotas I have
seen, they seem minimal. Comments?

When you get stuck off road and you are walking back to call a tow truck just say
"Have we gone to far? or have others not gone far enough? " 1,000 times and your problem will go away.
RE: locker for Tundra
Try Ivan Stewart's website...an e-mail to them may get you some info.
Rocles,
Are you serious about your comment regarding the Tundra's engine? How can you knock that aspect of the Tundra? The engine is AMAZING! Have you driven a Tundra yet? Just curious.
About 3 months ago, two crackheads stole a Ford Ranger(I'd guess the truck to be about 8 years old) & a rather large trailer. They drove to our site and stole a front door unit, 3 sheets of plywood and 108(YES, I said 108) bundles of shingles. They were caught about 3 miles down the road and we recovered all property. You should have seen that truck!! I'll never understand how they were able to steer that sucker at all. I'll post the picture of the truck and trailer(fully loaded) if I can find it. It was hilarious. Of all the things to steal on a construction site(there were microwaves, stoves, and dishwashers on site also), these morons tried to steal close to 8000 lbs. of shingles. Crack does strange things to people.
You have a valid point.....to a point. Get it? I disapprove of comparisons of the Tundra to the Big 2 1/2 full-size trucks. If the Dakota was made by say....Honda, I would have the same reaction to guys pumping it up to a F-150 or Silverado. I have never said the Tundra wasn't a legitimate truck, rather it's not in the same class against Ford or Chevy. Size does matter to a contractor like myself. Options are another drawback of the Toy-o.
All other sidebars and jibes I have made here were just in pure fun. If you have taken offense, I understand and apologize.
Trust me, I'm no jingoist. The day Toyota makes a truck that can fit my needs; then I'll take a look and maybe buy it. I was a huge Chevy fan growing up and it took years to shatter their myth but the Fords I owned broke it. Who knows? Maybe Toyota will do that in 5 years in what took Ford 25??!! Just keep in mind that I'm just having fun. I knock compact trucks as well and I don't test-drive them as well......
Their turbo kit with 5 psi boost, dual exhaust, and intake brings the landcruiser to 375 HP and over 450 ft. lbs of torque!
Can you say competitive with the lightning but in a 4 door access cab!
Carl
According to the wiring diagram for the headlights with DRL option, it too uses a resistor to reduce the intensity of the bulbs when in DRL mode.
Just wanted to let you all know that there is a viable aftermarket DRL option at a reasonable cost.

don't know if they are tough enough for a Rottweiler, but you can ask them.

Just ordered a 2000 Tundra 2wd SR5 access cab with the 4.7L. I have been fumbling around without much luck and wondered if anyone knows of companies making toolboxes to fit the tundra bed (the type that go across the bed snugly behind the cab, resting on the bed rails). I'm specifically looking for an aluminum model, one that won't rust away when I drive her home to SC.
Thanks.
Would appreciate your feedback ,on convenience, quality . Thanks Bill
They have some nice bed rail protectors. You'll probably have to call or e-mail them for Tundra applications, though. I believe you can order through AutoZone for less money.
I have a regular cab and these mats are just for the front. I have heard you can get the back ones too if you have a back seat in your Tundra.
Anyone actually tried one?
tp4unc,
Where can I find a "Performance Products" catalog, I'd like to check out that "no-slip traction system"?
Just a note, I tried the "shop online" link and found nothing of interest. I then tried the "free catalogs" link and made my request. I guess I'll just have to wait.
Thanks
it is unwieldy to manage, and difficult to use for "newbies." There is entirely TOO much topic duplication, so I will be doing some SERIOUS topic consolidation in the next few weeks, getting us down to not more than 2-3 topics per vehicle type, and ultimately down to 200 topics or less.
THIS weeks consolidation candidates are: Tundra's, Tacoma's and Rangers.
In that vein, please consolidate this Tundra topic to Welcome Toyota Tundra - V and continue these discussions there.
Thanks!
