Hello everyone my name is Berna,
Two weeks ago my car was stolen and found abandoned a week later TRASHED!!!
so along with having to replace a window, stereo, personal items also the ignition! So now since all that happened my car will start and then immediately it dies, I was told to try and disconnect the negative cable for 5 minutes and the first time I did it, it started right up, but since it's hit or miss with it starting......I'm getting so frustrated and don't have the money to take it to a garage can anyone please help me try and troubleshoot what the issue is??? It did not do this before it was stolen. Could it have something to do with the security of the car?

If it is the security system shutting this down you can do the manual relearn routine. Follow these steps exactly.

Put the key into the ignition and turn it all the way to try and start the engine. (The crank position)
At this point the security indicator should be on. (Note some models will flash the indicator)
Leave the key in the run position and after ten minutes the system will time out and the indicator will go out.

Turn the key off, and then turn it back on going all the way to the crank position again and release the key staying in the run position.
The security indicator should come on (or flash) just like the first time.
Ten minutes later the system will again time out and the indicator will go out.

Repeat this routine a third time and again after ten minutes the indicator will go out.
Cycle the key off, count to ten and then attempt to start the car. If this was a security system issue and the BCM needed to learn the ignition identification then the car will start and run if the system learned. If it does not start and run at this point then something else is wrong and no-body can just tell you what is going on. Someone will need to start the diagnostics by pulling codes from all of the modules on the car and then decide where to go from that point.
