Recently my air con has gone faulty. When I switch on the ignition and begin to drive I have air con. However, after about 10 mins or so it goes off and it is just the blowers working. I do not have heat either. I recenlty had the fan belt changed as it was a little squeeky. Any ideas? Resistor perhaps? I drive a focus 2004 1.8 tdci

Hello! I could not find another problem matching this one, but since it works for a while and then seems to cut out, I would test the relay for the AC, it may need replaced. Most relays are marked, find another of the same configuration and number and swap them out to check before buying one. The no heat thing sounds like a thermostat stuck open or missing. Before replacing that I would make sure you're not low on coolant. Good luck!

With anything like this the first step is to use a scan tool and see what codes are setting in which modules. There are at least three modules that work together to decide if the AC should be turned on. Meanwhile the actual in car temperature control is controlled by the temperature bend door actuator. Professional level tools can not only access input data, you can see the output commands and in many cases have bi-directional control of the outputs for pinpoint testing routines.
