I kinda hated the silly rear wing of STi, but the Limited one is just too small. Anyone know how much it costs to switch from STi standard wing to a S204 one? or Can it be done?
  • merrycynicmerrycynic Member Posts: 340
Ah, and I thought I was the only one! That's how the UK dresses down their STi.

this is from a southern california dealer

i've been offered $ 25,404 OTD (out the door, includes tax and junk) for

2006 WRX JD sedan (not TR)

they claim their invoice is at around $ 24,500

is this a good buy? bascially they selling under invoice for around 1000.

but then, they could be lying about their invoice price... what did you all pay out the door for the normal 2006 wrx sedan JD

Both of you are correct in my point of view. I ask everyone reading this to ask themselves..... shouldn't a dealer that is serious about selling cars, especially such a sought after and performance minded vehicle have ONE dedicated test drive vehicle for limited production cars? I didnt test drive my New 2007 STI limited. But I did test drive a regular STI because the mechanical end of both cars is identical.

by the way.... MY STI hauls @$$ and is absolutely gorgeous inside.
and I paid 2000 over invoice... other were asking 5k over.

i just got a quote from one of the subie dealer, 06 wrx sedan, msrp: 25,800 now with discount price of 20k. that sounds like a good deal right?

and is there any young teen out there with wrx, just wanna know about the insurance rate.

    thanks!!
  • martinfmartinf Member Posts: 121
That sounds like a great deal! My father-in-law is looking for one in New Jersey and I am in San Diego. What is the dealership that is offering such a great price? Have you considered the Saab 9-2X that is being discontinued as of this year? Saab is offering a $5000 rebate on top of whatever deal you can negotiate with the dealer.
  • sap727sap727 Member Posts: 5
Man that sounds like an awesome deal. Which dealer was offering that price? I going to buy a WRX if I can get that kind of deal in California.

So I haven't seen to many reports on the 07' wagon. How does this look?

2007 WRX Wagon only option is wheel locks
    MSRP - 25162
    Invoice - 23787
    Price Quoted - 22770 + TTL

    Thanks
  • poisoneyepoisoneye Member Posts: 1
This looks like a pretty good price. I was quoted $22,950 on a WRX sedan (not TR) with a spoiler, so your dealer might come down to say $22,300 or so (not sure on the wheel locks option price or if there is a difference in price in your area). Beware though, since this dealer really tried to lowball me on my trade. However, if I sell my car myself, they will honor their quote still. I will either do that, see what another dealer will give me in trade, or wait for them to up their offer. Their offer wasn't even in the neighborhood of a good deal though.

Friend just bought a base impreza automatic w/38 miles for 17,281 after 500 cash incentive, invoice 17,824 msrp 18,662 after destination fee. No trade-in and $55 doc fee. Fielded quotes over the internet and this was lowest by $500; dealer claimed was selling at a loss, but who knows. Bought from Subaru dealer in Fremont, CA.

I have not seen many recent posts in here or any really in regards to the 07 WRX Limited Wagon. I have been trying to decide between the 07 Legacy GT and the 07 WRX Limited Wagon. I am totally bummed that the Legacy GT no longer is available with the 5 spd. The resale values between the two is not enough to make up the difference in additional cost of the Legacy GT. So I think I am going to go with the WRX Limited. Here is what I am looking @:

07 WRX Limited Wagon 5 spd in Urban Gray with the following accessories:

    Popular Equipment Group 2E: $250
Short Throw Manual Transmission Shifter: $225
    Cross Bar Kit: $111
    Popular Equipment Group 4: $105
    Popular Equipment Group 3A: $111
    Rear Bumper Cover: $41
    Subwoofer/Amplifier: $182

Could someone tell me what they have paid for their WRX Limited 5 spd?

Here is what I was thinking about hitting the dealers with...

MSRP: $26,995 (Total MSRP price including accessories = $29,210)
    Invoice: $25,427

    Invoice + accessories ($1,025) = $26,452
    $26,452 - $500 customer finance cash = $25,952
    $25,952 - dealer holdback 3% Total MSRP ($29,210) = ($876) = $25,076
    $25,076 + dealer profit 2% of $25,076 = ($502) = $25,578
    $25,578 + destination charge ($640) = $26,218
    $26,218 + TX tax (1.0625 = $1,639) = $27,857

Not sure how much title and registration is? I am in San Antonio, TX.

Also curious if anyone knows what the invoice pricing is on the Performance Exhaust System-Cat-Back (SPT) and the SPT High Flow Air Intake System?

Also, does anyone what the difference is between the Cargo Tray and the Cargo Bin?

Any and all help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Christopher

Remember 1 thing when you're considering resale values - what you're looking at is the Past. Now with a total redesign for the Impreza for 2008, that changes the whole picture on resale. I'd have to guess that if the 2008 has many improvements or just better styling, and the price is similar to this year's models, the 2007's and older are going to take a fairly big hit in resale.

If you want a good deal wait until the new model is introduced, and if you want an even better deal on an '07, wait until the first '08's start hitting the dealer lots!
  • soupboysoupboy Member Posts: 15
What I'm seeing here in MN is invoice less customer cash (reduced from $1k to $750 starting June 1). Cheap factory financing still applies to qualified credits.

cjamaale - I'd recommend reconsidering some of the factory upgrades, particularly the audio stuff. A new aftermarket HU - plenty of reasonable double-DIN options with NAV, XM/Sirius, iPod compatibility, etc. available. Check Crutchfield as a start. Much better solution with surprisingly similar costs. Bag the OE sub. Also, bag the SPT exhaust stuff. Overpriced. Plenty of new/used parts available for less that make it go faster. I'd start with a reflash. The cat back and CAI will do little to nothing other than make more noise. You can find pix of all the aftermarket stuff right on the Suby website.

kernick - the 2007s are so hard to find because many find the 2008s ugly/unimpressive. I don't think there will be any material devaluation of late model/used WRXs or STis...might even help them hold value better.

I stay in North California, and I am looking for 2007 WRX TR model. Please can you suggest some good dealerships around here and the price I need to be looking for a base model.

I am currently in the market for an 07 WRX sport wagon. The first dealer i went to hit me with an offer of $310/month for 72 months financed at an interest rate of 5.9%. I am a recent college grad so i want a rather low monthly payment. I took this dealers offer elsewhere and no one will even sniff at it. I have quotes in the $380-$390 a month range. Am i actually getting a deal here or is the dealer trying to pull a fast one? Thanks!
  • discopetediscopete Member Posts: 21
5.9% sounds like a good rate for a 72 month loan. I can't get it that low for that long at my credit union.

I ran your numbers through a loan calculator at a credit union web site, which indicates that $310/month for 72 months at 5.9% means that you are financing $18,759. So, your purchase price is the down payment (which you didn't mention) + $18,759.

So, do you think that the total price is a good deal? The dealer may be giving you a good rate and a low monthly payment, but charging more for the car than other dealers.
  • kayaker11kayaker11 Member Posts: 4
Yes i too believe that the dealer jacked the price of the car up. I was putting $3500 down including my trade in and the numbers did not seem to add up. However, i just purchased an 07 WRX from another dealer for about $19,000 and change. The monthly payment is a bit higher but i did get a 100000 mile warranty with the car. When you factor the rebate and holdbacks i paid cost or almost cost for the car which i really cant complain about. The dealer also gave me $3700 for my 99 grand prix with 185k on it, no one else would come close to that number so i had to go for it considering most people pay in the $400-500 a month range for a new WRX.
  • discopetediscopete Member Posts: 21
Congratulations. That sounds like a good deal. :)
Here in the Baltimore-Washington area I haven't seen an '07 WRX (Sport Wagon) for less than $21,300.
  • aaykayaaykay Member Posts: 539
The 5.9% for 72 months is Subaru special financing in certain markets. They also have 1.9% for 24 months, 2.9% for 36 months, 3.9% for 48 months, 4.9 % for 63 months and 5.9% for 72 months. In certain markets, in addition to the special financing, they also have a $1000 cash back.

So depending on which market you are in, the dealer is not pulling a fast one on you.

This is my first post here I've read many of the purchasing tips.
I'm kind of torn between getting a new 07 now or wait save up more money and try to find one in another 6 months, mainly because I'm really not feeling the new 08's, so I'm feeling kinda rushed in my decision making as I have read here that many 07's are becoming scarce and hard to find.

I got a quote from a local dealership for a stock wrx

    M.S.R.P. $26,364.00
    INTERNET PRICE $23,492.00 plus tax/tags
(includes destination, all prep charges and current Factory incentives, where applicable)

also should I be looking to go in the direction of a tr opposed to the non tr model?

Also I can put down $14,000 at signing as I am 21 now and have been saving for a car since I was 16.

Just thought I would ask some people who know these cars the best and get their opinions so thanks in advance!!

so then whats a good price.. i sent in an email for a price estimate for the 07' WRX wagon. (special addition or standard).

I am trying to save about $5K for a down-payment and pay within 36months. what should my cost out the door be?? suggestions..
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
If you want bang-for-the-buck and more value, go for the 07.

If you want more refinement, back seat space, and don't mind paying more, then wait.

Also, let personal taste decide. Do you like the new look more?
  • auntiaunti Member Posts: 2
I ended up buying an 07 in wrb and I'm really glad with my decision, It's totally unlike anything I've ever driven. And I personally don't like the 08 wrx models so I decided to go 07 which look really sharp pictures don't do it justice.

Just helped my buddy negotiate a 2008 Impreza 2.5i hatchback automatic. It was base except for a few cruddy options (cargo net, etc)

MSRP was approx 19,448 including destination
    Negotiated price: 18,800

How'd we do? Seemed like we could have gotten another 1-200 off, but my it was my friends deal, so I didn't really want to push toooo much.
  • tiff_ctiff_c Member Posts: 531

The below are prices for the Manual not the automatic.
So from the look of it you got an automatic for $660. That seems ok to me. The car is new so dealers won't deal much at first.

    MSRP $18,140
    Invoice $17,356
    Edmunds TMV Price $18,140
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It's so new that it's hard to determine the market value. The most valid data point is your actual price. Very few 08s here on Edmunds so far.
  • beerloverbeerlover Member Posts: 20
I got an 08 2.5i premium automatic hatch for $19095 plus tax and tag. I was going for the standard 2.5i hatch auto and negotiated $17795 plus tax and tag. I got $560 under invoice on something 08 and some dealer don't even have them in stock. I think I got a good deal. Two big factors are it was the end of the month and they needed to hit numbers and the people at Concordvill Nissan Subaru (in PA) was super nice. I added aa extended warranty package 100k/5 yr bumber to bumber for $975. I have no idea if that is a good deal or not but I out a lot of miles on a car so it seemed good to me. One shopping day left is Sept ....go get'em.
  • jeffmcjeffmc Member Posts: 1,742
Sounds like a good deal on both the car and the warranty! Nice to get the warranty on a first-year model, just to be safe.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I agree, the 7/100 warranty is usually $1400, so under a grand is a good deal, especially if you drive all those miles.

    Congrats. :shades:

Just got the news about the new insurance. I was paying $97 a month for the 2005 Impreza Outback Sport. For the 2008 WRX hatch it will be $87. Seems like the additional airbags caused a change? They also said something about better theft protection - not sure how different that is.
  • jmail328jmail328 Member Posts: 1
Saw lots of 2007 WRX STi on Steven Creek and Carlsen Subaru Dealer. What price am I expected to paid? Which dealer has better customer satisfication? Do you know if I can add head curtain airbag from dealer? (I know STi don't have this option) Thanks.

    SWEEEEET!

    How'd that happen?

Well, that's done already. I got the car two weeks ago and I am even getting the money back on the difference of what I already paid this month.

Cool. I guess it's the addition of VDC?

"They also said something about better theft protection - not sure how different that is."

That's gotta be the engine immobilizer, which was not on your Outback Sport.

I just got back from Delray Subaru in south Florida. I received the GTP email Subaru is running the entire month of October. I currently have a 2006 WRX and my GTP is $19,900. I'm thinking about trading it on a silver 2008 5 Door with sport grille, wheel locks and security system shock sensor. This is one of two WRX 5 doors they have on the lot. The other one is black with the premium package. They are asking $25,959 for the silver 5 door. (msrp with the options listed) With my trade in I have about $900 in equity that would go towards the 2008. The salesman offered to sell the car with my trade for $25,186 OTD. This seems a bit high to me for a 72 month finance. I also had them write up a lease with the trade and it seems better. 36 months 10k miles a year. $1k down (using the equity in my 06) $399 a month +tax.

I can use the GTP up until Oct 31 so I have plenty of time to think about it. Should I try and get them to come down or wait till the end of the month? I was thinking around $23,850 +tax, tag, registration. Thoughts? :confuse:
  • jeffmcjeffmc Member Posts: 1,742
There's about $1400 difference between MSRP & invoice, so $23,850 might be a touch optimistic this early in the model year, when there are likely no factory-to-dealer incentives. If you're ready to, tell 'em you'll buy that day if they meet you halfway (say $700 above invoice?) otherwise you'll need to shop around, and I bet they'll bite. Hard to say for sure, though. I bet there are plenty of dealers still trying to feel things out as far as demand & pricing for the new WRX, and there's always the chance this dealership will be one of those trying to hold out for top dollar.

There's my two cents, anyway. ;) Good luck!

    Hi all,

I've been practically spammed with GTP information for 2 months now.. and finally, I'm interested. I ignored it for some time, but now that I am running out of warranty time, and have made many trips to the service dept already, I am very drawn to the idea of getting hugely overpaid on my trade :) . And when I got my Outback Sport, I was in a tough place, and really just wanted a car that would run. I didn't have much time to shop, and I didnt want to pay much. Times have changed, and I am very ready for an upgrade - like heated seats and wiper de-icers!

SOA is offering about $16,700 for my 06 OBS SE - pretty amazing considering KBB says its worth under $12k. Since I like free money - and would love a new car, it seems perfect.

Sadly, I don't really see a car I want. I want a sport wagon with some perks - so the WRX 5-door is the closest fit.. but at $28k (premium package), its really hard to swallow the new model's looks.

Ideally I want a Legacy GT. Or heck, even a Legacy 2.5i Limited wagon - but they of course killed the wagon for '08 :( .

I don't want to pass up on the GTP deal, but I don't want to settle for a car I only feel so-so about. Grrr!

    Anyway, that's my dilemma.

    pete
