2010 Acadia (131,200kms)

edited August 2015 in GMC
My Acadia stopped in the middle of the road last Saturday (Aug 1, 2015). Had it towed to Canadian Tire. Their mechanic said engine needs to be replaced. Oil has still 30% life and will just be due for oil change on 27 Aug 2015.

Had anybody out there got similar problem with my Acadia? Maybe the engine of this particular model or 2 years before and after 2010 has engine design flaws or engine performance problem. Will appreciate any feedback from other Acadia owners.

Thanks.

Got any more details? Did it throw a rod or something catastrophic or ?

I know your auto techs are all certified up there, but perhaps a second opinion from a dealer or "regular" auto mechanic shop would be in order. Bit of a pain towing a dead horse around though. :'(

I am having a GM Dealership (Murray) look at it now to see if Canadian Tire mechanics's diagnosis is correct. I will have the result probably tomorrow Friday.

Good - meanwhile some owners will run across your post and weigh in.

No. thanks God nothing like that (catastrophic). I just heard clunking noise from the engine and so I slowed down and pulled over to the side of road (Highway 1 Westward). I turned off the engine, then tried starting it again but it wont start no more. Had to call a towing company to bring it to the nearest shop which was 25km away.
