Interesting how Audi is taking aim at Tesla's plans for the model X with this. It will be more interesting to see how well they can pull off it as a first major product rollout. Tesla has had the advantage of learning a phenomenal amount from two previous all-electric models. But I wish Audi well.... with brisk, healthy competition in the EV space everyone benefits.

One commenter elsewhere noted that while the 300 mile range was good, it required 12 hours to recharge the batteries. Maybe he was out to lunch and a fast supercharger will be available like Tesla.

One thing that would help the emerging EV industry would be a widely used/usable standard for recharging ports. Tesla's build out of its recharger network is a huge enabler for selling its cars. It's also a huge expense for the company, obviously. The article mentions that Audi will roll out its own charging network to support the E-Tron. It would be easier for developers and for consumers if one network of chargers supported multiple vehicles. Imagine if every manufacturer's ICE vehicles required gas pumps with differently sized nozzles!
