I just walked outside and sounded like the van was running! The fan motor was running.

why would the fan be running and the engine isn't on?

    Electric fans in cars can run without the engine on, but only for a few minutes after you've stopped to cool down the motor. If it runs at other times, there could be a short somewhere. If it runs very long like that, it'll drain your battery.
