Fuel pump relay problems

Hi,
I Have a 1988 Cherokee 4.0 6 Cyn.
Fuel pump will only work if I jump the relay switch. I have replaced the fuel pump, and the relay.
If I turn key on with relay in place, no sound from pump. If I check voltage with key on the light is very dim.
If I check with jump, light is bright. Seems to run fine while jumped, but I want it to be right, with the relay in.
Any thoughts?

    sounds like oxidation in where the relay goes in.

    All connections are clean. first thing I did. Could I have gotten a bad relay?
    I bought it at auto zone. Does this part need to be oem?
