I just do not get the accolades for this vehicle. I rented one at the beginning of 2015 and it was as lame as any rental car I've ever had, and I would NOT buy one. A Genesis or Equus? Yes, where do I sign? But this turd? No way, pfffft.

The Sonata Eco might be the better car with the 1.6 turbo and dual clutch 7-speed auto.

Anyone declaring they'd like to own a Hyundai should drive one with 100K on the clock first. They're cheaper for a reason.

Our former 01 Elantra had 138k on it when we got it, and we ran it to 201k over 5 years' time. It inspired us to get a Sedona minivan, Optima Hybrid, and Sonata over the last few years. All have been a great value. The Elantra had a bad childhood, requiring some work along the way, but it was very reliable and economical. I'm a fan.

    Sonata: Better than the bus.

Ohhhhhh I bet the VW fan boys are going to be TICKED at the slap at VW "quality". And I put it in the quotes that it deserves.

It gets good reviews because it does what it's supposed to do and does it very good. When you drive a Sonata what are you expecting? I'm amazed when people say the engine is weak. It's a 4 cylinder family sedan don't expect neck snapping performance. It will get you to and from work, drop the kids off to school, run errands and take the occasional road trip in a well appointed cabin with a comfortable ride for many years and a 100,000+ miles at a decent price most families can afford without asking for much more than gas and oil changes. Also called the winning formula of the Honyota Camcord.

If this was from an American manufacturer the reviews would be that it's bland and underpowered.

I'm a Sonata fanboy and agree with allthingshonda comments even if all my kids are now out of the house! However, part of its attraction to us is that it's still a comfy roomy car when we resume our chauffeur duties during their visits.

My main complaint is how BAD the Hyundai Voice Recognition is in this car, tons of function but it can't recognize our voices without multiple retries so what good is it? Same was true of the '12 model and it is the one thing they did not improve. Fortunately Android Auto does a much better job, but now I need to have the USB port looked at since it seems to drop the connection now and then.. So, maybe 2 complaints.

I paid less than $24k for my 2015 2.0T Sport, nnd I defy anyone to find a vehicle with a better combination of driving dynamics, features, size and looks for that price.
