" If Porsche can't build a business case for a manual transmission in the 911, there isn't much hope for the future of the shift-it-yourself gearbox."

Mazda MX-5. 50% manual box take.

Just goes to show you what demographic is spending over 100k for a sportscar these days, rich old people or trophy wives. MX5 buyers skew much younger than the porsche buyer. But then again the MX5 demographic is probably more likely to pick up a used porsche so maybe the rarity or manual 911 will make it more expensive in the used car market.

Go for it. Porsche stopped making sport cars a while ago already. Too heavy, too wide and too long with more horsepower and technology to paper over the gaps. The waddling Panamera is the future of this franchise.
