I returned my 2012 SEL 4motions lease recently and emailed VW America about why I would not lease or buy another VW. The reason is when you shop for an SEL or R-Line trim in US, the Xenon light is an option, Driver Assist stuff are options, and even an auto dimming rear-view mirror is within the Driver Assist option. These thing should be made standard on SEL and R-Line. If VW America want to sell cheap car in US. They should just import Skoda or Seat here, or maybe bring in the Polo and Lupo. Look pretty soon Hyundai and Mazda may have Diesel here in US.
One other thing is the Golf and Sportwagen TDI are fitted with Torsion Beam in the rear, but the price isn't really that much lower than the 2014 model. Only the S trim is lower, but all other trims are pretty much between $25k to $33K. That's a premium price for a lower end rear suspension. If their argument is Torsion Beam is as good as Multilink suspension, then they should fit it into the GTI, and other higher end models like the Touareg.
