I'm about to buy a 350Z Roadster. I've heard that there are after-market upgrades for the dash (metal trim pieces, etc.) Does anyone know where these are available?? (online, etc.)
I've used "Exotic Wood Dashes" and "Daytona" before. I'd begin with a google on "dash trim" and, if you're careful and used to EBay, a quick look there. Lots of choices out there. JW
Hi all you 350Z owners. I am trying to decide between the 350Z and the STi. I need mpg figures for cruising at 70-80. Which is the normal flow here in the valley without a CHP escort. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I figure they should get close to 30 on a steady run at that speed. My trips are usually 150-300 mi. Other than town driving. This is the type of figures I am trying for. thank you very much. Fred Hood
For the price there is not a better rear wheel drive sports car than the 350Z. The Infiniti is the same car, basically. But, for the money 287 horsepower and a six speed transmission is hard to beat. Put one on a lift and examine the technology under the body and you will be sold. The exhaust even has a deflector for enhanced air flow under the car. The aftermarket exhaust only give the car 3 to 6 horsepower. The only thing I am going to do to mine is the purchase of a K&N airfilter. The car is nasty fast right out of the box and gets almost 30 mpg on the highway. In town it is too hard to keep from enjoying the power to get good mileage. So, for my money I bought the 350Z and it is really a nice departure from my Corvette. Yes, I have a Corvette and the 350Z is as fast. The brakes are better on the Z too...
My Z is a 2004 6sp coup. I have had a plesent experience with my Z up untill yesterday when I heard my car make this awful noise when I was completing a stop at a red light. Will my Z ever be ok, or am I doomed? I bought my Z in late November of 2003, in Las Vegas NV at United Nissan. I saw my first Z at Courtesy Pontiac Zuzuki on Sahara, WHAT A BEAUTY!!! BLACK on BLACK, which is what I like, (in terms of cars) well I didn't buy the used one I opted for a new one, and I went WHITE on Black. If you live here in vegas and you've owned a black on black car before that didn't have tinted windows, you know what i'm talking about. Well, I traded in a 1995 Lexus sc300 with all the trimmings for an Enthusiast. Now I'm not so sure I made the right decision after reading these messages. I've noticed a lot of you are previous owners of luxury/high-end cars too. Do you feel that you've been short changed or let down by the defects your car has had? I have. I guess all I can do is take my new baby to the dealer and have them fix her. I hope to get to know all of you. Best wishes with your Z Brandy, Las Vegas,NV
Hey everyone, I just purchased my 2004 Daytona Blue 350Z Coupe and traded in my 2004 Arctic Blue Pearl Acura RSX Type-S. I miss a lot of the RSX-S' features such as the leather seats and 8000 RPM redline, but everything's forgiven as soon as I hear the engine growl of the Z. The Z is, hands down, a much more exciting car to drive. Nice to be a part of this forum.
Hey, Karens: Dealer called 2wks ago saying the autohauler arrived with chrome silver, charcoal leather, chrome silver, AT, side air bags, splash guards, mats and kickplates 350Z. It was so close to my original order I bought. Cowles Nissan Woodbridge was embarrassed by a comedy of errors trying to order a 2005 for me. Soooo, we struck a good deal for me of $36.5K out the door. Not as good as my 2000 red vette hatchback in any regard, but now I don't have to shift or endure the competition suspension on absolutely lousy No. VA road surfaces. Enjoy ya'll.
Hi Everyone, Strongly considering buying a 350Z roadster convertable. Have driven the Vette and looked at the Mustang Cobra. Any insights, comments appreciated on which is the best buy for the money. I know the Cobra is best bet for shear power, but quality and endurance are a question. The Vette is better overall but more money?
Hello All, Bought a 2005 Roadster yesterday (10/6/04). Went with the Touring edition - Pike's Peak White, Frost leather, Navy top along with automatic with Triptonic +/- shifter. I was very sastified with the dealership (C. Thompson Nissan, Greenwood, South Carolina) and was treated professionally - very happy with "out the door" price.
I must say, this is one nice car. Interior quality has been upgraded substantially - none of that "cheapy" feel or look; materials are quite nice. Have owned a 2001 SLK, 1996 Supra, 1993 RX-7 and I must say, this ZX is my favorite. From the fit/finish to the rich good-looks, down to the pleasant growl at speed (and the unbelievable thumbs-up, questions, not to mention all of the gawkers) - hard to keep that silly grin off of my face.
I will report any quality issues, etc. to you all. In the mean time, drive on...
I have been driving Lexus ES 300's for the past 10 years and have been spoiled by the quality and dealer service. Neverthless, I am considering a new 350Z Touring to try to recapture the excitement of my youth when I had a 1973 240Z. Reading some of the posts here have me scared about the quality of the car.
Just bought the new 2005 350ZR. I am really happy with my purchase. I have only one issue with my car. I am having a fueling problem. It is not associated with the fuel guage, but with putting gas in the car. BTW, the gauge on the 2005 reflects the true amount of fuel in the tank, according to my last few fuel ups. Fingers crossed !
The pump overflow is constantly kicking the pump off, regardless of the amount of fuel in the tank. I have tried numerous "positions" of the gas nozzle - no luck. I can put in about 0.08 cents of fuel at a time and the pump will automatically shut off. I have to do this numerous times, until EVENTUALLY, I can fuel the tank normally, at full pump speed. It takes about 10 minutes to fuel up - which is frustrating or when the gas back flows out and all over the rear fender.
Has anyone else experience this. An owner of the Infinity G35 (cousin to the Z), had the same problem, which eventually went away. It is as if the bleeder valve is blocked or needs to be "broken in".
Well after a 15 month delay I finally got my very own Z, everytime I saw the car I would drewl and say I going to get one so I finally did, I was really close to not getting one because I still love the BMW 330Ci... and the Infiniti G-35 .....but I wanted a true Sports car this time. I was going to order a silverstone touring Roadster with the blk/tan ventilated seats. They found one in New Jersey for me but it would have taken a few days. Well the GM came to me and says hey if I make you a really good deal would you buy this blk on blk 2004 350ZR ... I said depends on the deal. Bottomline he made me an offer I could not refuse, hence I am now a Z owner... I love the car and I love way oter people just get out of the way when they see you Z-ing down the road. The only mods I plan to purchase are: Stillen rear variance, either a wood grain dash kit or stainless steel, Tint my windows and a K&N cold air induction system....
Bought the car new almost two years ago. Only 5,700 miles on it so far, sits in my garage mostly. White exterior, automatic. I like everything about this car. I have had no problems at all, maybe a little streaking on my windows but otherwise nothing else. I love the way it handles and drives, it is awesome to me. I am looking for something else now to get a back seat. Not sure what yet, maybe the G35 or a Lexus IS300. I tested the G35 sedan and coupe before I bought the Z and they didn't thrill me behind the wheel like the Z did but my wife really wants me to get something with a back seat. T.Morris/Ringgold, GA
It's great your experience so far has been positive. But, with only 5,700 miles, the tire issues have not had a chance to surface. Good luck and I hope you continue with your positive experience.
With just a little arithmetic, I figure you've spent about $14000 for 5700 miles -- that's pretty pricey riding! Why do you leave it in the garage? Isn't that sort of a waste, or at least very frustrating?
Hi, y'all. I'm new to the forum, but I'm a ZR owner. I own a black on black 2004 ZR with 2454 miles on it. I know just about anything about Z's and mods for them. I've worked on numerous Z's in the past three years, so if you have question ask me or email me at johnt_1997@hotmail.com. My name is John and it's nice to meet y'all. Also, if you guys have a 2004 that was built before Sept 04 and are having tire wear issues, the best way to solve it is to have someone mechanically, not by computer, align your vehicle. After that, you shouldn't have an issue. Otherwise, I must say I love my Z, and will keep it for life.
just a suggestion, but you should just make your email public in your profile and not actually put it in the post. The hosts have warned that these boards are searchable through general web searches and you'll most likely wind up receiving unwanted spam.

Having the same problem with my new z and can only fuel up by pulling up hard on the gas nozzle. I am taking it back to the dealer when the gas gauge is half full and let him try to put gas in it. If you find a solution let me know
The front OEM tires on my 350Z (2003 performance version) are shot at 10,000 miles because of the front alignment problem. On tire rack I only saw a few tires (front 225/45R18, rear 245/45R18) that fit the OEM size. Any recommendations?
I read some great reviews on those Avon all-season tires.
But, if you have an '03, you know the dealer will (or at least, should, and, if they don't, call nissan or find a different dealer) replace those fronts for free (althought, they will be the same crappy OEM tires).

I have a 2005 350 Z with 3000 miles. Love the style, power, handling and great sound at 4000+ RPM. Minor nitpick- I detect a " rattly" or chattering sound when I engage the clutch on starting up, particularly starting on a hill. Not every time, but every once in a while. Any one else notice this on the six speed?
Hi! I absolutely LOVE the 350Z Touring Model I bought in Silverstone with Orange Leather Interior which is in immaculate condition with just about 14,000 miles on it, one year old, but I'm craving to get the Roadster Convertible!!!! Went to the car show today in St. Charles, IL and it was awesome to see all of our little Z's lined up in different colors!!!!! BTWay, the tires were replaced at 11,000 miles, no problem with dealership at all-----not questions asked.
Would buy another Roadster in a minute.....just need to sell the one I have now!
I also have an '04 Silver over Orange. Its a great color combo. One of the best, if I do say so myself. I did want orange over orange, but I'm glad I wound up with the Silver since it is much less conspicuous. No sense in drawing more attention to yourself than necessary when speeding around in a sportscar.
Personally, I prefer the coupe. I like the added utility of the hatchback (however small that utility may be), not to mention the increased rigidity and decreased weight (if i wanted something heavier and slightly slower, I would have bought a G35).
Is yours auto or stick? (mine is stick.) I often wonder how many were produced with these colors.
If anyone is able to locate a breakdown of model/colors, please let me know.

jrsimpleman, Just exactly how can you have someone mechanically align the vehicle. Is it really that simple? Has anyone in this forum done this before? I am currently thinking about a new Z but are still not sure about this tire/alignment issue. What's the difference aligning a car using the computer vs the other method? Thank you for your help.
I bought mine new, 350 Z base model 6 speed manual on Jan 15/05. So far I have not experienced any of the problems peeps have discussed. I think a lot of the bugs in 03's and 04's have been eliminated. I have not heard this clutch noise you refer to. I live near mountains so I often take a beautiful ride in them. Steep climbs and no problems. I have had over revved (?spelling) the engine and dumped the clutch laying rubber about 4 times and experienced the smell of a hot [non-permissible content removed] clutch. Please refrain from this as you would stupidly doing as I have, wearing out the clutch through abuse. Once the clutch has cooled off, it has each time returned to normal functionality. I do not do this anymore.
I think many peeps who have trouble drive the car too hard all the time. Just because it can compete (or blow away) with many of the Euro coupes doesn't mean you have to prove it everyday. I love the car and no problems. The only mod I have made is replace the cloth seats with leather, at purchase at dealer expense.
Hello all Z owners and those who are thinking about buying it. I just got my Performance, Pikes White 350z last night. I had a hard time finding this color in Performance package, so finally, they located the last one in California. When it comes to a car, I consider few factors: 1. Uniqueness 2. Performance 3. Power and 4. Handling. I have always loved BMW and still do, but now only M/// and above. BMW has lost its uniqueness since you see lots of 3 series on the road and they all share the same body style. I was about to buy a 330 Coupe, and I really liked the whole package, but when I compared it with 350z, I realized that 1) it is not as unique as 350z, and 2) it has less power than 350z. I was told that the Performance package will be discontinued next year. I've been chasing this car since it came out, and now I got it, and I love it. In my book, it is defenitely a piece of artwork that will stay unique the same way 300 did. Let's all enjoy our new ride!
For my Infinity G35 (which I believe has the same engine, and possibly the same fuel roll-over value), Infinity issued a service bulletin as this is a known problem. I am getting my THIRD replacement gas-tank and value tomorrow, and have told the dealer that (at least in MN), if this doesn't solve the problem, I will be looking into our states "lemon law" which gives me the option of outright requesting a new vehicle.
You made a great move buying a Z.. Yes, my car makes a popping sound when i turn the wheel hard left or right.. I am taking it in soon. But i have owned Z's for a long time and Im loyal. Nissan did a great job.. Just get your Z checked out and you'll be fine. Hey, even Mercedes has problems.
Red350z, I was wondering if you could tell me if next years car show will be held around the same time and place. How did you find out about this one? Was it all 350's? I live in the Chicagoland area as well. Thanks Brad ps Did you buy your 350z for your birthday?
I just joined! I'm going to purchase a "Z" this year and I'm looking for some advice as to which Trim Level I should buy. I like the Enthusiast and Track. I would like to add some After Market items, Exhaust, Suspension. My question is which items/brands should I be looking at to add first and would it make any sense to get a Base Trim then add my After Market goodies? Would appreciate any advice you might have to offer.
Personally, if I was looking to upgrade through the aftermarket, I'd probably opt for the Track just so you already have the bigger/better brakes/wheels to start with.

Just got my 06 Z Friday and drove back to Houston From Ft Worth @80mph and hit 100 on a couple of times. A real smooth ride and the onboard computer was dead on. I to was interested in knowing to the numbers which came out at 25.5mpg on 93 premium plus. My local Nissan serviceman said 89 octane would work but might give up some performance. I think at 70 mph you're probably looking at 28 mpg......Bayouman
Just purchased an '04 Roadster w/14K miles on it, 6-spd, triple black....I am excited beyond words...I've owned 3 "BM-trouble-you" convertibles so I am excited to have a droptop with much less maintenance headaches......the engine purrr is SO sweet already!
I've had my 350z for over 3 years with 31k. I had to replace brakes at 15k and now again at 31k. Is there anyone that have had the same problems with brakes not lasting past 15k?
The350Z pads are very soft; that's why there is alot of dusting on your wheels; switch to Hawks pad or EBC and you'll find that you won't be replacing brakes as often.
I'm a new member of the 350Z club, bought a Redline Touring Roadster this past weekend. Love it! I'm having so much fun with it. Car had 49 miles on it when I took it for the first test drive on Thursday; I bought it on Saturday, and now have over 300 miles on it. And just as many smiles! Great car, so much fun to drive on these beautiful spring days.
I had the same problem that everyone else on here has. I didn't have a problem with the dealship replacing my tires but was on third set at 20,000 miles. Warrenty would be up at 36,000. I found a free lemon law attorney on the internet. They took the case. Nissan just bought my car back two weeks ago for every dime I had in it with 25,000 miles. So it's something for everyone to look into
One of the Nissan Dealerships around where I work has a 2006 slightly used 350z Roadster in Daytona Blue Grand Touring trim. Ever since Nissan came out with the 350z, I have wanted a Roadster in Daytona Blue and leather interior. So this is perfect for me
Is there anything I should look out for when I buy? The list is $36995. Carfax checked out fine. This seems almost too good to be true. How much should I offer for this? I am thinking 32000 best offer
Since it is a Nissan Dealer, can I trust the car to not be a lemon? It still has most of the warranty. Anything else I should watch out for? The dealer says the previous owner got pregnant.
I am a first time Z buyer and really want to enjoy my car. Any help would be appreciated!
