Mechanic Says That I Need A New Cluster. Please Help With Other Ideas Or Fix Myself Ideas

I have a 2000 ford expedition edie bauer edition. About a month ago my dash light went off and now my abs light and other warnings went off. barely made it to the mechanics and now they are saying I need a new cluster. I have done some research online and was hoping to save some money on this fix, so if anyone has any advice or a similar experience please leave a comment or suggestion. Being a woman walking in a shop people tend to try and rip me off, any suggestions welcome
