I'd still be interested to find out how '40 times the national average for nitrogen oxide' really differs from how the cars are set up in the rest of the world...I saw a test where running your 2 stroke weed eater for 20 mins equaled the CO (I know - not talking N2O) output of a Ford F-150 being driven 4,500 miles...So I'd like to get a real reference point - and this is not coming from a right wing wacko - I'm a registered Democrat that believes global warming is an issue...I just wonder if the EPA is more about money from big oil and keeping diesels to a minimum or if there really are emissions issues that need more attention (I drive a RAM 1500 EcoDiesel, and my DEF fluid is nearly full so don't look a me). Regardless, VW knowingly skirted the issue...Not sure if I'm more impressed with their cajones or thinking they'd pull it off or just the downright effort to sell TDIs...those crazy Germans...

I don't think messing with air takes balls. It takes greed, corruption, negligence, and lastly...stupidity for thinking they would get away with this. It is not so much about the pollution, it is the fact that they lied to the customers and for that they have to be responsible.
