1998 Olds Intrique 75,000 miles - used as second car (not driven much & never in the winter). Just got an oil change after - quite some time.
Mechanic said that intake gasket leaking coolant. needs intake gasket and valve cover gasket.
The car runs good. Lots of power. no smoking or "oil burner" type smell.
The oil was low (not to the add oil mark -- but it'd been over a year and well over 5000 miles since the oil had been changed due to other circumstances.
Is there anything I can look for under the car? Would both the intake gasket & valve cover gaskets need to be changed. Can this be put off?

It's a 3800 engine. The most likely leak is the water passages in the intake manifold. But the gaskets between the lower metal intake and the heads can fail. You likely can see the coolant level drop in the reservoir by checking level when engine cold. But you must check level in radiator too. Frequent oil changes can reduce damage with low leak rates at first. Better to find good mechanic to change out with your parts. Isuggest APN uppe. With metal sleeve in hot area carrying EGR gases. And use alumknum sleeved manifold gaskets and aluminim Dorman heater bypass tubes that carry water to tensionet
tensioner to go to heater. Good for long time of you use those.
