Engine Recall 2011/2012 Sonata's

Well I just checked and my 2012 Sonata Limited is part of the engine recall from Hyundai. It was built in 2011. The problem is the plant did not remove all the metal shavings from the engine building process and these metal shavings end up plugging up ports that lubricate the rods and other moving parts. I have read many reports where the Dealers would deny claims because they said the owner did not change the oil often enough. I don't know what to do with my wife's car because other dealers will not touch my trade with a 10 foot pole. I hope the engine does not decide to blow when she is driving in a bad part of town. I wonder how many months its going to take to replace 480,000 engines?

"Hyundai dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the engine assembly, as necessary." (link)

Don't know how they'll evaluate the engines but it looks like they won't be replacing every one.

For those interested, it is campaign 132 and i already received my recall notice in the mail. The big H is still figuring out the inspection procedure, but they magically claim ONLY a 2% defect rate. There's over 450 posts to read at:
