Hi, I'm new to this forum!! I have a 2014 Camry hybrid. My best mileage has been 670 mpg on a full tank. Is it safe to coast in neutral?

It's counter-intuitive but if you coast in gear, the transmission keeps the engine turning and the fuel shuts off completely.
If you coast in neutral, you have to burn gas to keep the engine running. (link)
My understanding is that this holds true regardless of whether you are in a manual transmission car or an automatic or in a hybrid with regenerative braking.
And yeah, it's not safe or legal to coast in neutral.5
